The Clinical Medical Assistant program at Mildred Elley gets you ready to accept jobs in clinics, laboratories, hospitals, nursing homes, and many other medical settings. The curriculum covers human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, CPR, first aid, lab procedures, and computer technology. Students must complete an internship, and at the end of the program, they qualify for a Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate. Students who earn the certificate can transfer their credits to the Mildred Elley campus in Albany, New York (about 40 miles from Pittsfield, Vermont), where they may apply their coursework to an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting.

3. Purdue Global University

Purdue Global University, formerly known as Kaplan University, is a for-profit post-secondary educational institution that offers a fourteen course, 58 credit-hour Medical Assistant Certification program that can be completed in as little as 1.5 years. During the program, students take courses such as Medical Law and Bioethics, Office Management, Medical Coding, Insurance, and Clinical Competencies. Following the successful completion of the program, students will have acquired skills including taking and recording vital signs, performing lab and diagnostic procedures, managing patient records, and others. Following the successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the following credentialing exams: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), and National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA).
