1. Central Wyoming College
Locations: Riverton, Lander
Central Wyoming College is a public, two-year community college with multiple campuses throughout the state. CWC offers a 32 credit-hour Medical Assistant Certificate program that prepares students for entry-level healthcare positions in one year or less. Officially, the program can be completed in 32 weeks, but often students need more time. The program employs a mixture of in-class instruction, hands-on lab practice, and a clinical externship to give students the administrative and clinical skills they need to assist physicians with patients. Throughout the program, students are introduced to topics including medical law ethics, clinical procedures, medical terminology, and more. Students also learn how to draw blood, administer medications, maintain health records, collect lab specimens, and much more.
2. North West College
Location: Powell
North West College is a public, two-year community college that offers students a 30 credit-hour Medical Assistant Certificate program that can be completed in two semesters. The program is delivered in hybrid online/in-person format and seeks to prepare students for future entry-level positions in the healthcare field. Students who enroll in NWC’s Medical Assistant Certificate program will gain the clinical and administrative skills needed to work as a medical assistant in the offices of doctors’ offices, at hospitals, and at other healthcare facilities. Some topics students can expect to cover during the program include first aid, problem solving, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, and others.
